Humanitarian engagement

This page documents humanitarian engagement outside formal political office — work undertaken in high-pressure environments where practical action mattered more than commentary.

2015 — Refugee crisis: Greece, the Balkans and the route north

During the 2015 refugee crisis, I worked on the ground in parts of Greece and the Balkans, supporting refugees and assisting with practical coordination. The work involved direct engagement with people in transit, logistical problem-solving, and cooperation with other volunteers under rapidly changing conditions.

Independent reporting from that period documents conditions, events, and volunteer engagement in the region, including incidents at borders, public order breakdowns, and the human consequences of policy decisions made far away from the route itself.

2022 — Ukraine

In early 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I participated in urgent civilian support efforts connected to Ukraine. The work was undertaken in parallel with political responsibilities and focused on concrete help rather than symbolic action.
